Back Home- Ready for '13-'14 Year.

The only reason I was okay with gunfire going on outside of our hotel room Thursday night is because it was due to education celebration :)! After a short night's rest, we headed to the Amman airport for our long trek back to the U.S. Due to the new terror threats that came about Friday morning when we were departing, it was a good thing we arrived to the airport early. Security was tight and the terminals were very busy.

Going back to the drive to the airport, I looked at Janell towards the end of it and said "think about when we first arrived a week ago...". From culture shock/taking pictures of everything to a feeling in which there was nothing along the drive that surprised us. There was a goat/sheep crossing of about 75 animals on the interstate and the amazing scenery outside of the windows...but we had officially adapted to the new country. It was honestly sad to go- an amazing week in this new place!

The flight was long but we made it to Chicago on time. This is where the only negative of the trip occurred and it happened to occur in the U.S. Our flight from Chicago O'Hare to Indy was delayed, delayed, delayed. Then, we finally made it to the runway but decided we did not have enough gas. Finally, they decided to cancel the flight once we arrived back to the gate because of incoming weather. Long story short- American Airlines was difficult to work with in this cancellation and we ended up taking a rental car back to Indy that arrived at our house at 4 AM. In order to stay awake on this drive, we blasted the Sirius Radio and sang some old 90's tunes as loud as we could. My wife is a pretty good singer, I am horrible! We made it to bed and headed to the airport a few short hours later to pick up my sister who came in town for a few days. From our travels to family- the way it should be!

Thank you again for supporting me in earning this Teacher Trek trip and we are excited to share our experience with you this Fall. I have some great plans to teach the Middle East, Jordan, and culture studies to the incoming Explorer students. The amount of knowledge and experience I have gained on this trip will allow for me to be a better teacher in a category of the world I was definitely never an expert in. I am excited to share!

On to football two-a-days and a bright school year ahead. Go Rocks!
